Some days for no apparent reason I will get on a kick where I am more in the mood for listening to live albums. There are some fantastic live albums out there that really capture a performance. Even though there are quite a few I enjoy, the made up award for the best live album I own today has to go to Gun's N Roses - Live Era '87-'93. If you don't have a copy of your own I encourage you to reach out to a buddy, family member or coworker who does and make yourself a copy. You will not be disappointed!!
Some of my other top choices for live albums include:
- Led Zeppelin - How the West was Won
- Clutch - Live at the Googolplex
- Pearl Jam - Live at the Gorge
- Local H - Live
- The Roots - Come Alive
I most cases I will end up just listening to the live albums over the studio albums I own...they are that good. And for a unique twist I have a few live acoustic performances from Sevendust, Alice n Chains & Jay-Z (feat. The Roots) which are also very cool to here some of you favorites unplugged.
Does anyone out there have some favorite live albums you want to clue me in on?
My first thought immediately goes to Nirvana Unplugged
ReplyDeleteAlways thought Pretty tied up with the intro kicked fuckin ass as well as Nightrain
ReplyDeleteIm still trying to find a bottle of that. I believe California has it but you have to buy a case? Prib terrible though
As of two years ago, you could still buy Nightrain in California but you couldn't have it shipped to PA. (I looked into for a gift for Neil)... maybe we'd all just have to make a trip there.
DeleteBuying a case would be well worth it even if it was awful
